Stencil Spray- Arctic Monkeys

For my stencil spray, I chose an image of them that had a variety of facial tones so this is the one that I chose.

I then separated each of the pictures of the band members and made a new document.

Changing the image to black and white made it easier when it came to using the cutout tool.

I then used the cutout tool and simplified the image to 3 levels.

I then started selecting and copying the tones and putting them onto a new layer. When I had made 3 new levels of the different facial tones, I printed them off separately. I then cut out the black with a craft knife which left me with 3 white templates.

By using a spray can, I sprayed over the white templates which created images like the one above.
I then scanned all the spray designs into photoshop.

I adjusted the threshold of the scanned in images so they were purely black and white and then placed them all on top of each other.

After placing all the scanned images on top of each other I changed the colours.

This is what the image looked like after I coloured it. I chose the colours pink, blue and yellow and used the multiply effect to create the orange.

Using the same process, I did the same for the other band members in the image.
